Red wine

Red wine

A Poem by EileenMarie
"

Why does sobriety mean antisocial to me?

"

Looking back has me mourning the future

The present boasts sobriety and not much more

How does one find joy in that culture?

Looking back has me mourning the future

A foreigner in my own life, a misadventure

To think fate sealed with something I abhor

Looking back has me mourning the future

The present boasts sobriety and not much more

A belated review but such a worthy poem. EileenMarie. In fact it's more than worthy, is courageous and honest and I know for sure that life will drop gold on your future. How could it not.

Life throws such wretched things at a seemingly settled life, crutches needed, hope defied.. but you are climbing the stairs to your small grands and plenty of time to find their gifts and giggles and more. Maybe a touch of childhood would have you swinging with them, skipping and more. One can only try.. and for sure, you will and humming all the while. Hugs snd more, dear lady.

Thank you Gee. I am in search of joy in sobriety!
and yet to be social as the alternative? might be better to mourn the future somewhat...and find Joy in other vices...
as Sheryl Crow sang..."i'm a stranger in my own life"
do we ever really know ourselves?
and can anything or anyone really make us feel content....
this is really a potent write, EileenMarie.
