Narcissism ConjecturesA Poem by Ego AmoThese are two conjectures on the universal human trait which I define as Narcissism. Not poetry (need another category, philosophical projections or something)
First Conjecture:
There is an innate Narcissism in human nature. To expound: One is subconsciously auto-defined by one's perception of other's perception of himself. Point: That one acts with this fallacious self image in mind and thus: one takes on the conjured persona, unwittingly and according to his natural narcissistic tendency. Thus: One's definition is twice removed from reality, though, this is a circular paradox in that the misinformed definition becomes the reality which in turn informs the definition. Second Conjecture: One is Narcissistic inasmuch as one's relationships with others are fundamentally egocentric; practices of auto-valuation. Point: The attribute of a person being attracted to one's self can itself be an attractive attribute, per se. That is, I discover that a person thinks of me as attractive; I become attracted to this person primarily on the basis of this perceived attribute. Evidently: My relationship with this person is a practice of self-valuation. © 2010 Ego Amo |
