The Paragon of FearA Poem by Egao-onnaDropping my possessions, I ran to greet you, But you stood, impassive, As I reached you, You were not you, But the inner insanity let loose at last Like the terror I felt that one day, Never a terror was, And hopefully, Never a terror there will be My soul quaking, Eyes darting to your face, And your eyes, Oh, your eyes were hidden under a curtain of malice, And your grin full of spite, But your lips felt the same, Which was odd at the time With a laugh that could scare a skeleton, You-not-you tottered around, Terrifying your comrades, Making a spectacle, Hating and Free from the real you Wisps of Scorn surrounding your soul, Which is Shadowed by Evil, You-not-you turn towards me, And announce, that my BeLoved is forever gone My first instinct was to run, To run and hide under a rock, To hope that you-not-you wouldn't find me, With your empty smile But I knew I had to stay, And set you free from the nightmare that was you So I stayed with the you-not-you all morning, While he writhed and scoffed from his throne, But I knew that I couldn't give up, No matter how much his scathing words seared my soul Fighting the tears, Swallowing the sadness, I gave the poor creature Love, Something of which he was unaware, And soon, You returned, With tears on your eyes, And thankfulness in your heart, For you had been trying to free yourself all this time, From the Madness inside your soul, Turns out, All that he needed, Was to be Loved There has never been a terror,
Like the terror I felt that one day, Never a terror was, And hopefully, Never a terror there will be © 2011 Egao-onnaReviews
