BirdsA Poem by EffyAs free as a birdThe birds they fly above me, sail with the blowing wind. No cares, regrets, or worries free, where the air is thinned. Oh how life would be so simple, with no white fence to show, 'cause if I were with you, my love, no boredom we would know. Because we'd soar above the clouds, just like when we're alone. We'd rule the skies and fly so high and rest upon our thrones. But life can't be that simple, are we just mere machines? Who aren't content with finding love, except in magazines. We think that we are different but in that we still conform, with all the love and other drugs, the way our world is formed. We speak of those who founded it, look up to them in awe, is it not time to recreate the life that they once saw? This distance that's between us, i'm so vacant when you're gone. My mind it goes a'wandering, clouds where the sun once shone. One day the sun may shine for us, as ironic as it is, for wasn't it the pouring rain, that assured me of your kiss. © 2011 EffyAuthor's Note
