Describing a room

A Story by Rachel m.

My basement out of all the rooms in my house is the most spooky. I go down to change the wash and I expect something or someone to jump out and scare the living daylights out of me. My dog just refuses to go down when I tell him to follow me. My sister drags the dog to follow her to the basement because she doesn't want to go alone downstairs. Being down there playing on the Wii I would notice that there would always be a noise that never comes from the tv but from the other room on the other side. I would soon realize there was no one else in the house with me plus the dog would be outside in the yard. When me and my sister were both still young there was someone who was wearing a mask and always scared us when we are at the top of the stairs. We never went down there for weeks or months after that. Our parents have been scaring us for a long time and they probably made us break at a couple of levels. We are still very scared of our basement till this day we can't go down there without a light illuminating the room. Or rather another person being down there at the same time as us. And I just realized I have to go downstairs and make my costume for Halloween.

Are you saying your parents would purposefully make you scared of your own basement? Shame on them. I completely understand this feeling, though. We used to have an attic that my grandmother kept all her porcelain dolls in. Very, very hard to bring myself to go up there.
