Good Will

Good Will

A Poem by Jack Kennedy
"

Love It or Hate It

"
Forever away from her now
She just threw me in the trash
I miss the happiness I brought her
Now she has found another
I remember when we first met
One look at me from across the aisle
She jumped up with pure joy
She gave me a  real place to call home
There were others but I was the one
She loved me unconditionally and more
Until he came along and ruined it for me
Took all her time and attention
She eventually gave me away
In a bend I went, never to see her again
Off to the thrift store I was forced to go
With all the world's other forgotten toys
We all sit on the cold dark shelves
Our hopes and dreams shattered and broken
Just waiting for another chance
Wishing we could be loved and desired

I havent read "strung along" yet, but I will soon. On the surface this has a toy story theme and is a sweet sad tale, but the analogy with relationships works well too. There's truth in every line and you say it wit a good dose of heartbreak. Well done. Penny

First poem or is it actually thoughts I have read of yours and I must say that I did enjoy it.
Discarded toys is a great metaphor for discarded love...
Clever idea...

LOVE this take on the love lost, hopes the one they love would stay and in their heart forever. Thrown away as if the love never exist but hopes another will see the beauty for what they are, the good in them. Enjoyed the read!

This is sad but sweet. Maybe "poignant" is the word. Coming from poverty, as I did, I know a discarded toy can find new love.

Reminded me of the velveteen rabbit too.. I loved that book as a child, but I love the way you ended this one-
"Off to the thrift store I was forced to go
With all the world's other forgotten toys
We all sit on the cold dark shelves
Our hopes and dreams shattered and broken
Just waiting for another chance
Wishing we could be loved and desired"
How true that last line is.. well done, enjoyed the read. :)
