Strung Along

Strung Along

A Poem by Jack Kennedy
"

Hate it or Love it

"
Every night seven days a week
He uses me to put on a show
For the audience over again
Shows seem like an eternity
The crowd chants and laugh
At the terrible jokes and gags
His name in lights, mine's not
He takes all the credit and fame
I have to sit and take a backseat
He says he's grateful for --- them
Never for me!

Just them he says "only you all".
I hate the audience and I hate him
He can't do the show without me
But everyone and him forgets that
He had several replacements
Numerous third parties but none
Could do what I've done and no
One will ever come close to me
Or my talent!

He sit on stage and I sit on his lap
We tell jokes that makes them
Laugh then when it's over I have
To go back inside my case
While he celebrates my hard work
Tonight is the night though
I'm gonna take over the show!
Just waiting in my case for the
Perfect opportunity then he is all
Mine and we will finally see who is
The Dummy now!

Long overdue for a poem! This is different to me for some reason, just the way it's written.

Puppetry is a difficult skill to master, so is poetry. It seems you are well on your way to that with this poem. I agree with the ladies, who are far better at poems than I ever hope to be, just what is it you mean with "But everyone and him forgets him" ?

Thank you! I'm glad it was understandable.
Where to start??
For winning my thriller contest, I'm reviewing your work, so here it is:

As I already told you, this poem stands out for it's originality and element of surprise: the dummy. First off, I was reading this without realizing much who was the person talking, but the further I read, the more it became evident, it's a puppet that wants revenge for being used in return of no fame! Evidently, he has had enough and the last paragraph gave me chills. I really like the way you wrote this piece and it is well put in context. Flawless job and thanks for sharing!

Thank you for that, nice to see that someone thinks so! Glad dyou enjoyed the piece
Hey Jack,

Listen, I read in your, "About the author" section that you want to be the greatest writer of all time, it's with that statement that I'm going to level with you. The idea for the poem is novel and unique and for that I congratulate you. However, you have a lot of work to do. Personally This is one of the worst poems I've ever read.

I don't know if you thought that the lack of punctuation would be a unique literary tool, but if so, it doesn't work. Your sentence structure is loose and incomplete leading to thoughts not being properly conveyed.

I don't know how well read you are but I would pray that you would double your current reading and until your abilities increase I would stick to writing what you know.

Jack, there is a book called The Outliers by Malcom Gladwell, in it the author says that it takes at least 10,000 hours of practice before any skill can be mastered, start practicing and take a look at the book if you have time.

I look forward to the day when you're published and I have to eat my words. Good luck kid.
