Ch. 6

As Emmett drove, I sat next to Bella in the back who was sleeping. It had to be midnight on the way the moon was positioned, pure white and in the middle of the sky. I brushed my fingertip across Bella's cheek, feeling sorry for what have happened tonight.

 

I looked up at Emmett and Alice, who was in the front seat. "Where are we going?" I asked.

 

Alice turned around to look at me. "For now, somewhere in the woods. We shouldn't go anywhere public so we don't cause trouble."

 

I just nodded my head. Under my hand, I felt Bella wince. She was moving around, like she was having a nightmare. Alice was ready to reach over to wake her up but I wanted her to sleep. I still had the river water with me, put away in an empty container. I wondered if I could use it somehow to clear her thoughts and the nightmare. I dug out my container and popped out the lid. I gently lifted my hand to raise the water. I let the water cover my hand like a glove. I moved my other hand to her cheek and moved my water soaked hand over her head. I concentrated on her thoughts.

 

I winced a little because I was able to see what her nightmare was. She was in the woods and it was very dark. Mist was covering every inch. Bella turns around to see me, as the new vampire. I tell her to run, run as fast as possible, away from him. Edward, the new one, comes out from the darkness. He attacks me. I vanish and Bella is trapped underneath him. The way she pictured it though was truley a nightmare. Edward was truely, a nightmare vampire.

 

I used the water to calm her. I cleared her thoughts and soon enough, the dream faded and was gone. I took the water and put it back in the container. My other hand was still a cheek and I felt a warm tear hit it. The tear came from her eye. At least she can sleep peacefully, for now.

 

Alice was watching me the whole time. She whispered softly, "You truely have a gift Lauren." I didn't smile though.

 

"How are we going to explain this?" I asked.

 

Alice still looked serious. "Both of your dad's for now think that it's a sleepover at our place for your birthday. You won't be expected back until late tomorrow night. Same with Bella."

 

I nodded softly.

 

"We're here," Emmett said. Once he stopped, I grabbed Bella gently and got out of the jeep. I carried Bella like she was my child, but I wanted to keep her safe for friendship.

 

All the others were there. Carlisle, Esme, Rosalie, and Jasper. I ran over and put Bella down on a pile of blankets that were laid out by the Cullens. I sat down and looked over at everyone.

 

"Carlisle. You said earlier that Naum was after revenge....?" I asked. Obviously Carlisle had a connection with him.

 

Carlisle shook his head. "Yes. I might as well tell the story to everyone. I kept it secret because I didn't want anyone to worry. I didn't thnk he would return." Carlisle sighed to himself. All of us circled around Carlisle so we could hear.

 

"Well... I first met Naum during my stay with the Voulturi. He was a part of them, a leader like Aro, Caius, and Marcus. He has a very special gift, but it can lead to great power, depending on the way you use it. His power... if Naum bites anyone, that also includes vampires, they are under his control. That person bitten becomes dark and gothic like and gains the powers of a vampire that you would always think of. Turning into bats and having fangs. They are forced underneath their own will to follow the orders sent out by Naum.

 

"I was staying with them like I said. I never really liked Naum for many reasons. Aro only kept him a leader because of his gift. But he didn't know, unlike me, how evil his power was and the plans he had. Naum grew up in a very racist world. When he was turned into a vampire, he used his power to kill his hometown. We don't know where it was though.

 

"One night, I was out in the forest outside of Voltura, hunting. I saw Naum there, plotting something. He was with two other men, men he created. 'What are you doing' I ask him.

 

"Naum said, 'I'm sorry Carlisle. But I want to fulfill a dream, a dream where I can be the offcial leader of the Volturi. Those selfish leaders are all not good enough for me to follow and be part of....'

 

"Naum was going to take over by using his power. I had to warn the others. That's what I did. I ran as fast as I could back to Aro, to warn him before it was too late. But when I got there.... Naum was already there. He manged to bite Caius. That's why he has silver hair. It used to be black. Caius was on Naum's side. But I was able to stop him... I attacked and locked him up where he couldn't get out. Aro banished him from the Voluturi and left. Luckly, we were able to turn Caius back to normal, but only his hair color stayed."

 

I looked at Carlisle thoughtfully. He was now in a trance, trapped in his own story. "How did you change him back?"

 

Carlisle sighed before he spoke again. "To change him back.... we had to have him feed on a certain type of blood.... animal blood. It was quite difficult because anyone changed by Naum has a stronger desire for human blood than before. Caius had to have at least a syringe full of animal blood. That's why Caius is like he is today. He doesn't trust anyone and just want them killed. He still wants Naum dead. But since I captured him, he wants revenge on me. The hard way... by taking my son..."

 

I wondered. "That's probally why I'm not following Naum.... Edward bit me. So what you're saying is that right now, Edward is feeding on humans?"

 

"Yes. But we can still change him back. We just got to lure him in and get the blood in him. It won't be easy though."

 

Alice stood up. "Anything to save my brother."

 

I played with my silver hair. I felt someone else behind me the whole time. "You can help us too Bella...."

 

Bella, I knew, was awake the whole time. She heard the whole entire story. I looked at her and she had the most evil look on her face. "I'll be the bait."

 

I stared at her in shock.

 

"It's too dangerous Bella. We don't need to lose you," Carlisle said.

 

"I'll do anything to get Edward back.... even if it involves me dying. I don't want to live if he continues to be this way. I will be glad to risk my life for his. He'll fall for it.. trust me."

I absolutely loved it!! It's awesome, how you changed the story to fit the original "Twilight". One question, though, which book does this take place in? Or is it post-Breaking Dawn? Or is it between a book in the series? I'm guessing it's either between New Moon and Eclipse, or Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Anyway, great story. I loved it!! Keep writing more. I'm dying to know more!!

Better kinda, but you can't use a syringe on hard skin like rock! And made a spelling error, it's not Voltura its Volterra. Better but I still think a bit abrupt change in the story. Good work though Lauren, but not much to my liking.
