Rose Petals

Rose petals rain down on me,

on a clear April night,

they glow red,

even in the pitch black night.

 

I wait underneath a cherry tree,

waiting for my love to come,

he said he'll be here,

with a surprise that inspires me.

 

I catch a rose petal,

it feels nice and soft,

it's deep red,

the color of blood.

 

The moonlight faints upon me,

with shimers of white glowing on my rose,

a sign of midnight,

he should be here.

 

A look up at the tree,

I gasp and fall to the ground.

I start to laugh,

for my love made me jump.

 

He leaps gracefully from the tree,

his pale skin glows from the moonlight,

his bronze, copper hair flys,

as he lands next to me.

 

He holds out something to me,

a rose with few petals,

he laughed softly,

as rose petals fall upon us.
