Chapter 6- A Secret Revealed

I actually really didn't pass out. It just felt like it for about two seconds. The doctor Carlisle was checking my cuts. I had enough and gave him a devious look but it didn't do anything. I pulled away and I started to make new cuts deeper by digging my nails into them. Alice grabbed my hand and made sure I wouldn't try to do it again.

Carlisle sighed. "We'll have to take her to the hospital. What exactly happened?"

Alice looked at him with huge concern. "I don't know. I was coming out of my sixth period class when Bella told me that I ran away. She seemed really upset Bella."

So Bella wasn't mad? She was actually worried? I thought she would never forgive me for what I said to her boyfriend. "Bella...she's not mad..." I still felt the need to cut. It felt good to feel pain on the outside then the inside.

Alice looked right away. "Lauren, what did you do?" But I could tell right away that she somehow found out about the incident. Bella probally told her.

I decided to tell the truth. I told them what happened in Biology and what I yelled at Edward. Alice seemed annoyed and somewhat happy at the same time. Carlisle was concerned.

"Lauren, were you mad at Edward for how he acted toward you?" Carlisle asked.

I shook my head. I really didn't want to talk anymore. Alice scooped me up in her arms as if I were a stuffed animal. She gave an unsure look at Carlisle Then they looked at me.

"Lauren... you're not going to believe what will happen. But in case you know, this is a secret that we have to keep. Do you understand?"

I looked at Carlisle like he was crazy but Alice nodded. "Would you rather go to the hospital or our house?"

"Your house. But... does my dad know what happened?"

Carlisle shook his head. "No, not yet anyway. Just do us a favor and hold on tight to Alice?"

I didn't know what he was talking about but I just nodded. "OK." The next thing I knew, I was flying. Well... not really but Alice was running REALLY fast. I felt the wind blow against my face as we raced through trees. I was having fun. But how can Alice and Carlisle run so fast!? No human on Earth could run this fast. Human... does that mean they're not human? I pondered. I remembered how Bella told me yesterday how they went on "camping" trips every other weekend. I pictured all the Cullens with their pale features, good looks, and gold eyes. Maybe they didn't camp but more like... like... hunted for food. I remembered how the Cullens didn't touch a single thing on their trays full of food.

I knew what they were. As crazy as it sounded, I knew EXACTLY what they were. "Stop!" Alice skidded to a stop along with Carlisle. They looked at me with curious expressions on their faces. "Put me down for one second." That's exactly what Alice did. I stood there, bleeding, while Alice seemed to be holding her breath.

"You... you're not human. You're something else." I took a step foward for the fact that I knew they won't hurt me, considering what they are. I whispered it.

"...Vampire..." They looked at me for a little while longer and finally they nodded. Suddenly, something slammed right into me at full force. It hurt so much as the hit made the pain worse along with the cuts. I went flying in the air. Something... or someone was grasping me. When we landed, he slammed me at full force against a tree. I screemed at the pain. My head was now bleeding and dripping. By now I was covered in blood and blood stains, along with dirt covering all over me. I gasped as Edward held me against the tree.

I coughed a painful cough as it hurt so bad. Edward looked like a demon as he held me there, ready to kill me.

"EDWARD! STOP!!!!!!" I heard Alice and Carlisle call. They were on both sides of him by now. I felt something that felt like a knife stabbed me in the chest as I coughed up a mouthful of blood. I was gasping for air but I couldn't find enough. Edward had his hand on my throat while the other on my chest. Was this it? Was this the end? I'm dying. Then something slammed into Edward and held him to the ground. It was Emmett and Jasper.

Edward tried to break free. "I'm telling you! She's a threat to us! She'll reveal us all! She'll take Bella away from me!" He was trying to get free, but Emmett held him down with his brute strength. I was on the ground coughing up blood. I couldn't come up for oxygen. I was dying in front a family of vampires.
