Stormy WordsA Poem by Edizen
Stormy words can break your body down,
They hurt the heart, the mind, the soul and puts you on the ground. They breed a need to be right so great it blinds you when you're wrong, They never give warning so you can brace for what's to come, And leaves you only to regret when its all been said and done. There's a saying about sticks, stones, and how words never hurt, But that's not really true now is it? Pretending never works. Words tend to hurt much deeper if you let it, The degree of the burn depending on who said it. and wounds from words last longer if you think about them. Coming from the cotton mouth, glass fangs, laced with venom, And once they sink in it's like you never forget them. So these wounds become trigger on a bomb called rage, Counter hits, zero, you explode, and everything is a daze. Then in one breath, spit lines that make you wish you were dead, But leaves you living confined, to the promise of karma instead. "Actions speak louder than words" is what somebody once said, But speaking is an action, you'd best not be misled. Words are like storms, they're both air and just always there, Both can lift you up or break your walls, and tear your homes apart.
