Folly of Youth

Folly of Youth

A Poem by Drew Anderson

Deep in thought about nothing at all

Speaking sweet nothings to a spot on the wall

Putting them down on a page in the dark

Reading them over and pretending it’s art

Stuck in the house without a clue in the world

Believing I know how my life will unfurl

People tell me I’m “mature for my age”

But as you can tell by the words on the page

I’m not even sure how to handle myself

So don’t expect much from me on the shelf.
