Why won't you smile?

Why won't you smile?

A Poem by Tara

I watched from the distance
As they dragged another away
They never come back
Ever
Her screams echoed through the building
People looked away
Not wanting to see the young girl pulled away
They yanked her by the hair and told her to shut up
She whimpered
And started to cry
Tears leaving streaks
Down her grimy face
They shook her viciously
Told her to stop crying
When she didn't
One man back handed her
Across the face
She fell to the floor
A gash above her eye
Where the man's ring
Had cut it
She pulled her knees into her chest
And rocked back and forth
But they weren't having any of that
They lifted her up
By the scruff of her neck
And ripped off her top
She screamed louder
They got a knife
And cut
Intricate designs into her struggling body
And laughed
That's all they did
Was laugh
And soon enough
I felt myself
Smile
I started to roar with laughter
Her eyes met mine
Through her matted hair
And I grinned
I snatched the knife away from the man
He looked at me
And paled
I gave my sinister grin
And turned to the rest of the workers
I brought the knife to her face
And held it against her mouth
She didn't move
Just stared
Why didn't she smile?
She should be happy
She didn't have to work anymore
I smiled
She stared
I frowned
She didn't smile back
That was very
Very rude
Don't you think?
I started on the left side of her lip
And moved the knife up to her cheek
Leaving a perfect curve
I then did the same
On the other side
I stepped back
And looked at my handiwork
There
Now she could smile
Forever
