Rest wellA Poem by TaraFor my grandmaWhen i first met you, my mind was too young to remember The last conversation i had with you Is a hazy blur As your mind deteriorated I stopped seeing you Refusing to see Someone i love Leave like -that- You first forgot the little things Like where you left the keys And then it was names And places In the end You forgot Who your own daughter was My mother And when it got to the stage Of merely being a shell In the shape of my grandma I decided It was time To accept the fact that you were gone So when the news came That you had died I was prepared I took a breath And relaxed I hope that wherever you are Whatever it's like That you're happy And have met your husband Who you lost too Goodbye Grandma Sleep well
