In The MoonlightA Poem by Solitary TravelerA rather simple poem that does not stay put. It is what I felt that day.Look up high, watcher of the night An eye in the sky, a month to blink Candle in the night, jewel of the sky Chained to the Earth, high up and free. Startled wonder, innocent and pure Smiling light, pointed straight at me How can such beauty exist outside heaven? She soars, yet no wings can I see. Salt sprays the shore, crisp blue water Golden sand warms the feet, slows her flight Happy giggles, coy smile over the shoulder Happiness a treasure, hungry for a smile. Silvery path, moonlight's shimmer Walk by touch, toes on the cold stone Dew forms, a cool refreshing breeze Gentle laughter, a rustle of leaves Run through the forest, soft moss underfoot In her presence, wonder, and innocence Comforting, familiar, new sensations Is this fantasy, or a dream? Bright Autumn colors, red, orange, and yellow A blanket of beauty, a comfortable seat Thrown up in the air, lands in her hair A mischievous smile, and she's running again. Sunrise of delight, creation's beauty Eyes so gentle, rivals the stars Happy eyes, an angel's smile If she cries, rivers from heaven. A sigh, and reality floods back Echoes of smiles, a feather light touch A trail of breadcrumbs, sandy footprints Gentle promises, another moonlit night. Was that a Dream, or another reality? Life in dreams, a serene smile Piercing and pure, no cloud can hide Those gentle loving eyes in the moonlight.
