Garden of Tears

Garden of Tears

A Poem by Eden Reabelle

It has been 83 days
83 days since I last saw you
Since you last saw my aching soul
I knew it was too good to be true

I met you at a garden, where I did most of my crying
It smelt like sorrow and looked like heaven
You were stepping on a rose
Damning its beauty
But I was admiring yours
You were distracted by my tears
I was the reason of my tears and sadness

Months later
I came back to the garden of tears
I cried
This time, you were the reason

I kicked the roses
I kicked them and yelled out "Why?"
Why did this happen?
I blamed myself for weeks
Till the truth came out

You fell asleep with another
And now I damn you
The same way you damned that rose

The conviction in the lines of this verse... the reader is taken aback quite quickly... the voice is present... with anger and sorrow... the them with the rose works well in the lines of this write:

You were stepping on a rose
Damning its beauty

And now I damn you
The same way you damned that rose

Really sets the whole piece...
