It was Derek's birthday. It was a pool party, that went until late that night. I soon noticed I was the ONLY girl. It was weird at first, but me being a short bloned haired brown eyed girl I didn't mind when my friend Hunter said we should have a water war. Everyone agreed including me. I of course was on Derek's team. our team consisted of; Myself, Derek, Hunter, Tre, and Aston. the other team was; Oscar, Cody, Aston's twin, and their little brother. I was getting frustrated because nobody would hit me, because I was a girl. So I sat up on top of the water fall/water slide waiting for Derek to comeback so we could plan.
That's when He climbed on top of the water fall. Cody must not have noticed me because when I pushed him in, he was surprised. I saw him make a promising splash on the water, and him surfacing back to the top. When he came back up, he saw me up there laughing, and he glared. Apparently nobody was supposed to embarrass him. I guess my name was changed to nobody then because I certainly did embarrass him.
It was about 15 minuets later, and I was in the water. Hunter needed help grabbing the water noodle, and I was the only one to notice. So I jumped from the water fall and into the water, almost landing on Derek's head. Hunter and I finally got the water noodle and were silently cheering when the others started charging after us. We were right next to a wall, so I pulled myself up and was almost out when Cody tried to pull me down but only got my trunks. Hunter, who was now out of the water, looked at Cody, as did everyone else. Cody soon realized what had happened and he blushed. He said he was sorry and gave me back the trunks. I quickly put them back on and rushed into the house, with Derek and Hunter fallowing. I ran past Derek's mom and upstairs to their game room. When I got there I sat on the couch and folded my arms. Derek and Hunter sat next to me. we sat there for about 5 minuets when Hunter started talking.
"okay, so did he really just pull down your trunks?"He asked.
"yup" Was all I said. Then Derek looked at me.
"In frount of every one?" He asked.
"Yes, you were there, you both saw. But it's not a big deal, I was wearing swim bottoms underneath..."I said to both of them.
"Then why are we up here!" Derek asked.
"Because why be around him, he's just going to make fun of her." Hunter said as he sat by me and put his arm around me. "And I wouldn't enjoy that..." I smiled. I knew hunter didn't like me, and that we were just friends but sometimes we didn't act like it. The way we defended each other, and never let anyone mess with us, sometimes lead people to think we liked each other more than just friends, but we didn't.
After about 5 more minuets of Derek teasing us about being all protective we finally when back outside. By then the war had stopped and every one was sitting on the stairs and talking. Every one except for Cody, who was sitting on top of the water fall and starring down at the water below him. He looked like he was mad, and I think I knew why. Everyone seamed mad at him, and he wasn't used to being left out. Or at least, that's what I thought.
The three of us sat down with the others and joined in their conversation. At first they were talking about video games when Aston turned to me. " hey, Ali, you do know he's sorry right?" It took me a second to understand what he was saying.
"yeah, just like I was sorry to push him off the waterfall." I said sarcastically.
"No, really he is, and, I think he likes you, like a lot." I smiled at Aston.
"and how would you know that?"I asked not expecting an answer.
"because he told us not to hit you, or else HE was going to hit US!"
"but he hardly knows me..."
"Yeah but on the way here in the car, when you were talking to your friends, and talking about your old school. He learned enough to know that he likes you..."I looked up at Cody for a second then sighed.
"Yeah, well Aston, what am I supposed to do? Go up there and say 'hey it's okay that you pulled down my pants.'? because that just sounds weird."I said laughing a little bit.
"I don't know but get your butt up there right now. you can figure out what to say later..."I was about to protest when I realized everyone was gone and it was a little darker outside. I looked around to see if anyone had stayed outside but there was no one. I turned to ask Aston but he had got out and was halfway through he door. I sighed. I couldn't believe them, they were such girls sometimes.
I slowly made my way over to the water fall. I couldn't tell what he was thinking, or if had even noticed me yet. So I stood there for a second before coming up with an idea. I grabbed one of the blow up dragons that was floating in the pool and lightly tossed it at him. it landed next to him. He looked at it for a second, then back at the water.
"Hey," I said "I just threw a dragon at you, aren't you going to say anything?"I said trying to sound annoyed. He just shook his head. "And why won't you?" I asked. He just shrugged.
I sighed for about the hundredth time that night and started climbing the steps up to the water fall. I slowly climbed over to where he sat and sat down right beside him. After a few seconds of silence I glared at him.
"listen, what is your problem?" I said a bit harshly.
"Me? I have no problem..."He said shrugging, still looking at the water.
"Well not according to all of them!" I said pointing at the bunch of boys who were all watching us from the upstairs window. He laughed and shook his head.
"Yes, well they, have no lives. which is proven right now by them watching us like we're a show or something..." I laughed.
"yes well I know one person who isn't watching us..."
"Who? that Hunter kid?"
"Yeah, he'd never watch...he'd know I'd hurt him."
"really?" He asked looking at me. I just nodded. He looked away from me and back at the boys. "So what is it with you and him, are you guys-?"
"No! Hunter and I are just best friends and that's all." I said hurriedly.
"oh I thought, well you guys act like, I-I'll just shut up now..."He said before looking down.
"don't shut up! then I'll have to talk!" I said trying not to laugh.
"fine then I'll talk, but I'll talk about what happened earlier..." He said quietly.
"Oh, okay then. what about it?" I turned towards him expecting him to talk but instead I felt his lips meet mine. Before I knew it we were kissing on top of Derek's water fall while all the boys were watching from inside the house, and i didn't care. I wrapped my arms around his neck and I felt him wrap his arms around my waist. We broke apart shortly after and he kept hid head to mine.
"wow." I said breathlessly.
"What?" he asked calmly.
"you took the words right out of my mouth..." I said as i smiled. He chuckled and when in for another kiss when i heard someone from behind us. I turned my head towards the stairs to find Aston and Derek creeping up behind us. I smiled and shook my head. Cody turned his head and laughed.
"Only with Derek can you get a sneak attack after a kiss..." i said softly. Cody and I got up right as they came up to us. Aston was attacking me while Derek was attacking Cody. Cody looked like he was winning but I knew I was losing. Aston was going to push me off, and I was going to take him down with me.
"Any last words Ali?" He asked laughing at my struggle.
"Yup, If I go down, I'm taking you with me." And as he pushed I pulled and we both fell into the pool. We swam back up to the top of the water and started laughing. It wasn't soon after that Derek was thrown into the pool. He landed on Aston so I started laughing harder. Derek, who was in a fighting mood, pulled my foot out from under me making me fall back into the water. I gasped as I hit the unexpected water below me and I fell backwards into the pool. I stood back up and smacked Derek as hard as I could while Aston laughed. I was talking to Aston who was asking me how I enjoyed the party when I felt two arms wrap around my waist and I smiled.
"I think I enjoyed it." I said chuckling a little bit as I turned around to face Cody. He smiled and so did I and we kissed for the second time that night, and hopefully not the last.
