In Response to Nietzsche.

In Response to Nietzsche.

A Poem by Ed Rector
"

A subject for a great poet would be God's boredom after the seventh day of creation. - Friedrich Nietzsche

"

Who is this God, The one that people fear,
Who created our world within a week's time
And thus us mortals did appear?

Seven, seven days did God praise us,
Then left us to fend for ourselves.
His promises of paradise wouldn't suffice.

Was his eighth day unsatisfactory?
Did God punch the time clock of our world,
Unwilling to stay the extra day?

Is the pain that we mortals suffer
Truly the devils work at play,
Or is it God just having another lazy day?

You, You immortal unknown.
So carelessly thraoned as a deity
How'd you become so popularly known?

When that that intrigues us so eagerly so
Is that that will damn us for eternity
And make Hell our natural home.

Nietzsche is my man, I love him to death though I do wish he wasn't suck a sexist pig. Anyways, you touch on the controversy of religion and portray Nietzsche's questioning, mocking, sarcasm well. "You, You immortal unknown.
So carelessly thraoned as a deity
How'd you become so popularly known?"
Powerful powerful lines here. You captured Nietzsche accurately, but somewhat not as potently as his true words were. Quite a good read though. (The 'N' brought me here, teeth barred).
