Letter found on a dead dove.

Letter found on a dead dove.

A Poem by Ed Rector

(I miss you my love.)

By now your face has aged many moons,
as did our parting come to soon.
I write this letter from my heart.
For this morning I mourned for our times apart.

My dreams this morning envisioned you,
how clear it was all the way through.
Most of all beyond the rest,
your face I remember the very best.

How I missed it for so very long,
and finally I saw it, the face I once did bond.
But when you spoke in my dream,
I could not talk, my mouth, seamed.

That’s why I write here today,
to tell you the things that I couldn’t say.
How I wished to scream allowed,
my love for you, so strong, so proud.

I wished to move along with grace
and sway with you in its place.
But alas these I could not do,
to much shock came when I saw you.

Take this letter at your whim,
but know I wish our parting an end.
So now I send this letter with a dove,
and say you drove me crazy, it was love.
