Summers DreamA Poem by Ed RectorIts now dreary out there by the sea. Where once did I and my love Dance amongst it to feel free. Free from such pain and sorrow That now has come crashing into me Like the waves that came And now echo the name Of the girl of my summers dream But alas she was taken by the sea And when I pass by that town in which the sea had laid her down I remember just how it used to be The sun did shine all the time For us in our California fling And we rhymed with rhymes In poetic verses just to sing But alas this summers dream Is but a dream to be dreamed No more love from the other Who I once loved for a summer For she left so wearily to the sea So quickly did her grasp fade Fade away from me that now I flee I flee away from this town by the sea © 2008 Ed RectorFeatured Review
