Ode back to homeA Poem by Ed RectorA poem written with Home-sickness
I am an orphan of the world.
My family lays not in blood lines. They were created through bonds That now lay thickly breed. Sinners show just what it is to love. You would never see it though. It's in their eyes and bound In ties greater than you know. Mind-numbing life is back again. I miss the life of the obscene, Where family has claimed me, Even when I curse their name. I mourn for the ill-gotten ones, For those I never thought I'd miss. Where love stays true in absence And togetherness brings us bliss. And how I praise the days That are filled with fun and no cares, Those that clouds now cover the sun, Like the days of now compared to fun. For our goodbyes are ones I despise. For no others can bring me that high Without a drug, looks of smug, Or ones with wondering eyes. This once new place of enjoyment. Is now one only to bore. Once I find my way home I'm sure I am to stay there. © 2008 Ed Rector |
