CrutchA Poem by Edmund S. ObumbaIts a poem on my dad's struggle with crutches after breaking his left foot on the morning of May 1st 2013
I'm standing by the Corridor,
watching you lean heavily on them trotting like a toddler.. one incomplete baby step followed by a heavy heave a break of sweat... You grind your teeth in pain as your 'plaster of paris' laden foot causes a drag to your motion.. Underneath that sweaty brow lies determined eyes... at 66 with a broken foot reprieve seems nowhere neigh but underneath the pain you laugh, give an encouraging smile I see it in your eyes, I see it in your eyes, you'll be alright.. Broken limb, torn muscles, will as strong as diamond, old as you are,yet so full of youthful zeal... You'll be fine.. that's what each crutch clinker tells me.. on that crutch... is my Crutch.. Supports me when I can't carry my own Get well soon father. © 2013 Edmund S. ObumbaReviews
