Heart On ThornsA Poem by Edmund S. ObumbaIts about the irony of a heartbreak that instead of being painful,is a source of relief to the party being dumped:-)
I know why you came,
hush! don't say a word. I see it in your eyes, I feel it when I call your name... I know you tell yourself you'll be fine I know you'll say 'it's for the best' I know you'll say you love me,but you have to go.. then you'll expect me to stare,to bleed, to beg to clasp your hand as you leave, and drop a tear by your sleeve... BUT; You don't know how anaemic I am all the bleeding; my heart was barbed in thorns, seeking redemption I was hallucinating of freedom, swimming to the surface trying to get some breath, ready to walk the light get charred like a vampire... I was staring at freedom everytime we spoke.. but I kept chaining myself saying 'not today' thinking of your sanity.. your feelings that you said I hurt.... today my blood clots and your heart bleeds..gushes in a haemorrhage I'm walking away.. happier,stronger.. contrary to what you thought I felt.. I bled to death. now is your turn. © 2013 Edmund S. ObumbaReviews
