'Mother' Earth

'Mother' Earth

A Poem by Edmund S. Obumba
"

just a picture of how blind we are at times.

"
Oh earth,
I wonder why they call you 'Mother',
why they adore you, revere you, esteem you so..
because mothers care,
mothers know when to correct,
just the right force to chastise,
but you,oh earth,
you kill your own children,
never tire of drinking all the blood,
from wars,quakes...
punish us with all these diseases,
don't spare the little ones of hunger,
when you purge us with famine,
you give us rain,
yet you swallow most of the water,
leaving us with deserts and droughts,
when you give us rain,
at times you kill us with floods...
strange illnesses,Cancer,progeria,HIV..
YET
they call you mother.
I wonder what mother could be this evil,
to her children.
