Muesum Picture

Muesum Picture

A Poem by Marea Salice

What do you see when you look at me

A museum picture on a painted wall

A small girl with a dog running free

Looking at the clear blue sky dazed

To tell the truth would leave you amazed

So much story behind the picture

Who could have thought that a head raised

Would have been seeking out an answer

Gaze searching out a little dancer

That leaps between the constellations

Wishing powers held within the prancer

If only she would appear right now

But the painted picture won’t allow

The sun to set and stars to poke out

Or to let the moon give a low bow

So the girl waits in eternity

This is a beautiful poem, full of intricate and delicate rather feminine imagery that reminds me of the tune that plays when you open a jewellery box. The last verse snaps you out of it - brilliantly - for a brief moment, and then the last line brings you back to that sense of wonder again. Good work !
