Unwilling

Unwilling

A Poem by Marea Salice

Restrained with chains of hatred

I brood in my pain and sadness

I need to open my heart to you

But my mind’s surrounded in madness

He left with a blood soaked needle in his hand

Which he had used to sew my heart closed

Many have tried to rip it open once more

But all they have done is left me exposed

You’re not like the others that were all so harsh

You gently took out the stitches that where left behind

But my heart was still unwilling to let you in

For fear my desolate history might rewind

You had found me in a corner all by myself

Where I got poured upon by a wild storm

The others left me be, knowing it was no use

To my surprise you came and kept me warm

Little by little my trust is rebuilt into a strong wall

And now I can let you into my repaired heart

I had not forgotten the man with the needle

But today was the day for a new start

This is really cute. It could use a little improvement, I don't know where, but this one was great.
