A Story by ECHO
"

Ash is a high schooler and is living a calm life until a new transfer student, Seth, arrives. All is well in the beginning when they become friends but there is something in him growing toward him...

"

A shiver went down my spine.

We weren’t supposed to be doing this.

An electric spark raised my skin.

                        I wasn’t supposed to feel this way…

A race began in the center of my chest.

            This wasn’t natural.

Even so, I didn’t want it to stop. There was no sign of stopping any time soon either. I didn’t mind that at all and in fact, I was just as into it. It had happened on a whim. This was a new experience for me. The sensation was addicting.

I was in the middle of my first kiss… with another man. It all started around three months ago. My class mates were all hovering around my desk letting out their jealousy. All of them were discussing how Seth, the new transfer student, was the new topic with the girls in our class and that they were pissed that they were now always all over him. Somehow, I had become best friends with the guy. This gathering happened several times over the next month by at one point a new topic came up.

“He’s bound to pick of them. And soon enough. When he does, all the girls will come flocking back to us.”

At hearing that my best friend would get a girlfriend I felt a nick in my chest.

                        Wait… What? I should be happy…no I am happy…

With that, I decided to find myself a girlfriend too.

That’s probably it. Maybe I’m just jealous… Yeah.

But I had no idea of how to go about that. I didn’t find any luck with it either. No one seemed to catch my eye " except now my eyes seemed to be following Seth everywhere.

This is getting bad… Why is this happening?

I started avoiding him: at lunch, I sat with some other friends of mine, after school I hurried home before he found me, and on the weekends, I was always “busy”. But during class, it was harder to evade him. As a plus, the teacher recently made a new seating chart and we ended up next to each other. And one day, it got too close.

Crap! I forgot my text book!

            He noticed.

            “What Asher?”

“Um…”      “I forgot my English book.”

                        S**t! I paused too long.

            He laughed.

“Push your desk over here and you can share mine.”

Trying not to show my nervousness and combined excitement, I quickly pushed my desk next to his. He opened his book up but as the lesson started, I leaned in to read the word for the warm-up lesson and our arms touched. I flinched.

I’m blushing. I just know it… My face is hot and he knows. He’s bound too. There’s no way he doesn’t know…

Despite my thoughts, I tried to pass over what just happened and attempted to act natural. Class seemed to last forever but before I knew it, the bell rang. I wasn’t sure how I was going to weasel my way out of this one. We are sitting right next to each other and there’s no way to escape. I made an effort to escape before him but something stopped me before I made my way out the classroom door.

He had grabbed me by the shoulder.

Of course, he would do this! ~ You’ve been avoiding his for nearly a month now. Of course, he would wonder why his best friend has been avoiding him for this long!

When I turned to face him, he let go. Where he had touched was burning.
