Candied Madness

I am in a poetry group and I had to write a poem using the word candy, or about the word candy. This is what came of it.

Your melody streams
treasonous thoughts in my head
Candied drops of pain
whisper to me in my bed

I crave you more
every time you leave
Thoughts of you
always play with my sanity

The sweet taste
of your memory
Is quickly soured
as your touch fades from me

Every time we are together
I get caught up in the illusions
Your tasteful desires
Soon to be my contusions

One day I will be saved
from this chaotic mess
But I keep praying
That you won't ever end this

You are my joy
wrapped in sadness
You are my candy thoughts
wrapped in madness
