The Mirror

The Mirror

A Poem by Angel of Chaos

look in the mirror
wipe off the mask of the day
let it slowly fade from you
disappear
soon to be a distant thought
wash away the filth
the decay
let only the truth remain
you see your face
your smile
your frown
you see only you there
nothing left but all the lines
they define your very life
the worn out smile
the left over laughs
the emptiness behind the eyes
nothing elaborate
nothing immaculate
just a smile
the light reflects from your eyes
not your light
but borrowed
your life is empty
at the end of the day
you see you sitting there
as your mind slowly decays

This is why I don't enjoy looking in the mirror for too long. I related to this in a very personal way.

Thank you for checking out my scribbles :) This is how I feel every time I look into the mirror...
