American Beauty

American Beauty

A Poem by Angel of Chaos

looking in the shame
finding all the flaws
recreating her face
with a round of applause

that decadence of beauty
resting in disgrace
all American girl
with tears upon her face

she creates a master piece
of wonderment and awe
but she takes away
and she loses it all

she checks her smile
composes her laugh
holds up her head up
now no going back

she paints her face with beauty
covering up what makes her real
obsessed with what she isn't
doused in diamonds and frill

all American beauty
fashioned with design
stunningly beautiful
creation of the mind

she lost her fiery spirit
passion replaced with vain
dullness fills her eyes
she has no more feelings of pain

she forgot who she was
by fashioning a work of art
that American beauty
lost the pureness of her heart

This is a strong write, each stanza built toward the next. Though its a dark piece, you manage to preserve the delicate feel evoked by the title.

I attempt at what I call my scribbles.. my words are not eloquent, but they get my message across. Some of my titles may seem dark, but there is always a message in there. Cut Me Open is one of these,.. more..
