She KnowsA Poem by Echo086
Your eyes stab me
As you glance my way And my brain plays tricks on me. "She knows, you fool, she knows." The look you give me, Innocent enough. Still, my mind screams at me. "She knows, you fool! She knows!" I wish I could ask you To prove him wrong, But that would be stupid, wouldn't it? Then, he'd be right either way. I wish you wouldn't look at me. Your eyes are so clear, so honest. I hope my eyes aren't like yours. Then, I'd be lost. Across a room, you'd know Our eyes would meet for a second. Less than a second. And with the same, clarion stare We'd understand one another You'd know my secret. Then I'd know if you have one of your own. I like the fear better, The uncertain cat and mouse game of love. Fleeting glances that meet only for moments, Little information passing between us. Nothing but mutual intrigue. Nothing to write home about. Just two people Trying to decide if they would look better separate Or in one another's arms. Two pairs of eyes searching for answers But too afraid to ask one another. © 2014 Echo086 |
