Sleep

Sleep

A Poem by Echo086

Words cannot describe
The frustration you feel
When sleep eludes you.

Thoughts fly through the mind.
They buzz like angry wasps
Stinging you when you begin to drift off.
Making sure you pay attention.
"Listen to me! You can't afford to rest."

So, your thoughts drive sleep away
Which makes you think,
Which wakes you up,
Which makes you think,
Which wakes you up,
Which makes you think,
And so on and so on.

Until you open the blinds
And the damned sun greets you.
The day must begin.
It's too late, now, to sleep.
