Broken

Broken

A Poem by Ebs Newman

Wisdom spills from your mouth

Upon your stage entitled to your greatness

You inspire them

Their adoring glances feed the emptiness behind your smile.

Darlin’ how hard I struggled against the tide

To the end of each cigarette

To the bottom of every bottle

To find a way to light up your world

The way you set mine on fire.

My ignorance was devastating

A dirty little secret

In a bed that was never mine.

In the beautiful innocence of midnight

While your demons fight your dreams

I drink your wine

Smoke your last cigarette

You will never wonder

Because you won’t realise that I’ve gone.

This poem was well done. It reaches out to all those who have tries to fill their emptiness with all sorts of horrible things like drinking and smoking. It has good words and good structure.
