Never Lie to Me

“Are you sure this is a good idea?” I asked my companion, Jacob, unsure, voice full of fear.
“Trust me,” Jacob replied smiling a reassuring smile at me, which didn't help me. “It’ll be fine. I know what I’m doing.”
Trust me he says, he knows what he doing he says, and it’ll be fine he says. How the hell am II supposed to do that when we’re walking in the lions den bare-handed. With his pretty-boy looks. Short brown hair bed head# that was barely brushed on his head. Brown eyes that said ‘trust me’ and a boyish smile. Wearing a long-sleeved blue shirt and wrinkled black jeans. Damn naive kid. I can’t believe he’s older than me. Oh, and I’m not gay, just describing.
FYI I’m a 20 year old man, named Dan Sneed, who’s probably about to die. I’m shaved-bald, blue eyed, average. I wore a plain white shirt and white pants.
Now we're standing outside this old styled black gate that leads to this big red mansion. Anyway now he’s pushing the button while grabbing my arm because i just tried to run off. And who would blame me. We're ringing the bell that leads to the boss of the mafia.
“Who?” a gruff voice asked through the intercom.
“Jacob Red and friend is here to visit Mia Price.” Jacob replied.
“Let me check,” Then there was silence.
“Mia’s the one who’s going to help me?” I whispered stupefied.
  “Yup.”
That can’t be. Mia, who’s the...
“Come in,” the gruff voice said interrupting my thoughts and opening the gates like they do in movies.
I make one more run for,  it but Jake catches me again. I had to try.
“Come on,” Jake sighed dragging me through the path that leads to the house and inside it.
What greeted us was a cliche heavy, probably with muscles, black bald guy wearing a black suit wearing black sunglasses and a blank expression. Standing in the middle of the well...You ever saw ‘MTV Cribs’ well this mansion reminded me a lot of the fanciest cribs combined. Marble black floors and walls decorated the hallway which the front door led to. Black and red marble stairs with a white banister that we went up to another hall which is just like the other. Then we kept passing a lot of doors until we stopped at one door.
The cliche knocked on the door and announced, “They're here.”
“Bring them in,” a girls voice commanded.
He opened the door and stepped aside allowing us to enter.
We saw white room with two bloody red couches facing opposite of each other, a chairs on each end of the couches and a love seat all bloody red with a fancy pattern that was in an opened circle. A couple of 50 pictures of scenery, a big flat screen t.v on the wall that the circle faced and a couple of dark brown coffee tables.
Only one person was in the room, who i assumed was Mia, and she was sitting on the love seat. She had long black hair laying, sloppily, on her mixed skinned shoulders, dark greenish? eyes that looked lazily back at us and an almost expressionless face. Everything about her screamed ‘bad girl’ and ‘don't f**k with me’. She was pretty in a bad girl kind of way. She wore black pants, red shirt, red socks, and a lazy expression. 50 I knew she had to be older than me but she looked as if she were the same age are even younger than me.
“I thought you we're coming later,” she said as we enter and then made a signal to shut the the door and sit.
“I couldn't leave my junior alone,” Jake replied closing the door and sitting on the right couch closest to the love seat.
“Junior?” she repeated lazily looking towards me.
I waved as i followed Jake pace sitting beside him.
  “What you want?” Mia asked.
“Dan got into money problems with you guys.”
  “Dan who?” she asked.
  “Dan Sneed.”
“The guy who tricked Tom and took his money?”
“I didn't trick him!” I blurted. “I won fair and square.”
Once again her eyes move lazily to me and said, “He said you got him drunk and took more than he bet.”
“I didn't force him and i took the right amount,” I defended.
  “Which was?”
  “............Nine..........grand.......”
“You didn't tell me that much .” Jake said.
You didn't tell me you were taking lions’ den to be eaten alive. “I thought you wouldn't believe me if told you the true amount.”
  “Hmm.”
“Well why don’t I call Tom here.” Mia said reaching for the black house phone that was on the coffee table.
  Nooooooooooo. “You don’t have....”
“He’s right outside,” Mia interrupted dialing.
“Don’t worry. If you're innocent it’ll be fine.” Jake said with that dumb smile while Mia talked quietly into the phone.
“Wh what'll happen if they don't see the truth.” I asked.
“Mia always knows and if she don’t? You have me,” he answered as Mia hung up.
Yeah, but what’ll that do? I wanted to say something but a quick knock and a door opening stop me.
Tom entered slowly and went to Mia’s side. He was a guy who should have been a basketball player. He was that tall. He had shaggy blond hair and blue eyes. He would had been handsome if it weren't for the two long parallel scars that decorated the right side of his face. He wore a basketball jersey and baggy blue jeans.
He glared at me when he reached her side and then laughed, a cruel laugh. “You came for your funeral, huh?”
“Hush,” Mia commanded. “Tell your side.”
“My side?” He asked as if he couldn't believe it. “He tricked and stole from me. Lets kill him now.”
“No,” she responded voice going annoyed. “Speak.”
He look at Mia for a long minute and then told the story from his side. About how I gave him heavy liqueur with drugs inside saying that it was light and encouraging him to drink more. Then persuading him to gamble with me for one grand and when he woke up he was sick and not just from a hangover. Also how his doctor said it was drug to make you act aloof and loose conscience soon.
  Mia spoke first. “I see.”
  “Wait,” Jake said.
“Enough waiting,” Tom said charging towards me fast.
  “Stop!” Mia commanded lazily.
I tried to move but Tom kept coming fast his hand close to my throat.
Then suddenly Tom was on the ground Mia foot on his throat press softly on it.
“I told you to stop,” she said her voice and looks still lazy but that actually made it look scarier. I didn't even see her come.
“But,” he tried to speak but her foot pressed harder.
  “That'll be all Tom.”
  “Bu” presses harder.
  “Understand?”
  Shakes head yes.
Then she moved her foot letting him up and the he slouched out but not without throwing me another glare before leaving.
I knew Mia who was the only daughter of the mafia boss was scary but wow. For such an average sized girl to have such speed strength is amazing. The way she never hesitated to do anything, including stealing and much more to anybody, while always maintaining that lazy expression. She was more feared than the boss and she didn't give a damn. How did such a goody-goody like Jake befriend her?
“It’s all up to you J,” Mia said taking her spot back on the love seat. “After all you are my childhood friend.”
Wait. Really. Yes! I’m going to get away!!!! With all that cash? I thought I'll just keep my life but now. I knew it was smart to trust Jake.
Jake was the guy who everyone knew in college that  would do anything for them if they said it right. He was the type who loved to help and who everybody trust. Basically a good nature'd idiot as long as he doesn't find out. He hates to be used and lied to. He also hold grudges. Since i heard a rumor he was good with the mafia i knew he would be able to help. Even though I had my doubts.
“Ok,” Jake answered and then turned towards me face still smiling. “Anything else to add?”
“Yeah,” i said relief in my voice. “Tom lied about most of it. We did drink but, you know, Tom was embarrassed he lost that's all. He’s just a sore loser. I won fair and square. I promise.”
“Hmm. I know.” he replied smiling a little more. “but you should know i hate liars and being used.”
“What?” I said a tad bit confused. “I knew that. Why are you...”
“I know.” he patted my shoulder. “I know. You're going to be free.”
I couldn't help but smile, a big smile, forgetting my confusion and then suddenly i felt a pain in my neck. The world started to grow dark but i saw Jake had a bloody needle, smiling that smile.
Why I wanted to say Jake seemed to understand.
“Because i hate liars and you’re a liar.” He replied. “And i also know people pressure points.”
“What an idiot.” I heard Mia say as I was losing conscience. “Out of all the lambs to use he picked the wolf in sheep's clothing.”
The last thing i saw was Jake smile, that smile that i realized was terrifying, and the last thing I thought I heard was Jake say ‘Never lie to me’  before I died.

This is one of my first stories I ever wrote that went public, at least out of school anyway. So please go easy on me and any criticism will be welcome. Also there will probably be grammar problems, after all this is just a first draft.
