Some individual and social lies run deep.

 

There's a Child over there looking hungry and scared

He holds out his Hand needing Someone to Care

We turn Our heads

And pretend We don't See him

While the Poor suffer more

While the Rich grow more Elite

We shrug Our shoulders and just stare Our feet

We Say - Things will Better - You know they'll get Better

It's a Lie !

We Know it's a Lie

Behind it We hide from the things We're afraid of

No Evil We See

No Evil We Hear

Until We forget what it Feels like to Give Love

There's a Woman over there bent in despair

She's got two Babes to Feed and a Husband somewhere

She doesn't know where

It's been months since she's seen him

There's a Man over there with a beer on his knee

Escaping his Life through a rental TV

The things he Sees stir a Madness inside him

He doesn't want to Face the Rage in his Life

So he beats his kids and abuses his Wife

We Say - Things will get Better - You know they'll Better

We Know it's a Lie

Behind it We hide from the things We're afraid of

No Evil We See

Until We forget what it Feels like to Give Love

We're Living in Times where a dollar's worth more

Than Truth or Justice or Our Neighbors next door

We're hanging Ourselves on a Rope called Apathy

Every day We kill the Earth a little more

With Our chemical wastes

And Our crazy Wars

And still We Say - Things will get Better - You know they'll get Better
