Excluded and Oppressed

Humiliated and Insulted

Suppressed and Ignored

Defiled and Spit Upon

Cast Out and Vilified

And found the

Strength and Talents within a Loving Spirit

To keep Themselves Whole and Healthy

Within the rigid, Institutionalized

And Systematic Brokeness surrounding them.

Yes, Give us Leaders who have Suffered

Who have Experienced

And Understand to the Core of their Being

What it is to be Poor

And yet still find Joy within that state of Poverty

As they Seek to Endure it

To Understand its Existence and Purposes

And to Overcome that Poverty for Themselves and Others.

Yes, Give us Leaders who have Suffered 

And Sacrificed for Others

Who have held Others Up

During Times of Trial and Tribulation,

And Violence of and against

The Mind, Heart, Body and Spirit

Yes, Give us Leaders who have Suffered

Who have a deep Knowing of just how truly Connected

We All Are

To Humanity

To All Forms of Life

And the beautiful and wondrous Earth

We call Home

Yes, Give us Leaders who have Suffered

Because Suffering is a Great Teacher

A Great Crucible of the Mind, Heart, Body and Soul

Humility

Empathy

Nobility

Connectedness

Balance between Giving and Taking

Suffering Teaches us

That with Death and Loss
