The Favored

The Favored

A Poem by EastN

The Favored is a champion, arms raised in victory
Women pour out their adoration to fill his vessel
A chalice to his lips, Athena clinging to his arms

The Favored's siblings watch this procession
Disgust rising like the sea tide
Their achievements rubble besides The Favored's rock

A haughty smile flashed in their direction
The Favored continues his triumph
His throne in the distance, maidens with palm leaves waiting

The siblings unsheath their daggers, there is work to be done
Mephistopheles stands at their side, smirking
The Favored cries out, then lies still in the street

The siblings depart, their objective completed
The Favored's mother beats her breast
Ashamed at what she'd done.

A very nice story type poem. You did an excellent job...:)

I like the story in the poem. Made me want to know more. I like the use of the myth and the repetition. Giving strength to the flow of the poem. Left mystery and question with the short statements on many topics. The ending was strong. Type of poem that could lead to a good tale. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

I really liked it! I thought it was very poetic and I'm not that good at poetry, but I like my stories to be more dark like Black Butler. But don't listen to me I'm only 12. But can you write something darker please? Thx!!!
