Love Song for a Goth GirlA Poem by Earthriseher name was mollyYou are dark chocolate, Red wine, and a black rose. Darling, you're a midnight mare And the goddess of moonlight herself. Though you are an amethyst, You think that you are charcoal. I'd show you your true reflection, But vampiric queen that you are, You would not be able to see it. You're trapped in a war inside your own head, And I'm stuck here on the outside. I try to feed you ammo and supplies, But the fighting rages beyond my control. Baby girl, it's Vietnam. Best to leave the guns where they are And come home. I'm over here in a protest march, Screaming, "Make love not war" Across the waves of your hair And the shoreline of your skull. You cannot hear me, But I see bombs flashing on the horizon. Macabre sunset of your self-esteem. Though you cannot see your reflection, I'll do my best to describe it to you. I disapprove of the violence, But I'll keep making ammo drops Till Charlie cries uncle. I'll keep your altar lit, moonlight goddess, Knowing that although you deny it, The whole world sees you shine every night.
