Things to do on a 'Miserable' Day in Weddington

Things to do on a 'Miserable' Day in Weddington

A Poem by earthperceptions

Lay in bed an extra half hour-

voices masked, pit-pat, pit-pat.

Stare out the double windows

green, blurred, it’s different.

Thoughts stray further from memories-

get out of bed.

Rise on the left foot, stretch

the right. Breakfast time.

No need to silence footsteps today.

Down the stairs

Granola bar, out the door.

Wet, little crystals break on my face,

look up, grey day, beautiful.

Slosh through the leaves,

down the path- old Troll Bridge.

Dad built it. The stream rages-

different, yellowed, raised, a river.

Deep breath in, closed eyes, strength.

Back up the path,

Oldsmobile lights flash twice,

get in, flick switches and drive

to Starbucks, the one with the bar.

“Chai latte please.”

Sit at the wall of windows,

fingers flip pages,

eyes peer- people hunched, umbrellas up-

rejecting.

Measured, and extremely well written. Your events are finely drawn.

Thank you Katrina that is so sweet of you to say =)
Simple, but so very compelling. I thought I'd skip this poem after the second line, but I was hooked and could not turn away. Excellent creation of simplicity, dear poet. I hope you will share more miserable days.
