Old Habits

Old Habits

A Poem by Alicia Santos
"

I wrote this poem three years ago. It was something I was proud of then. It's short and sweet.

"

Once again he wakes up in the same fetus position screaming

Screaming about the revolting images of his past

Only the tobacco filled nicotine can calm his nerves

By each pull, he contemplates his life in which he has decided to end early

In his world it only cost $7.99 to purchase the end in a box marked Marlboro

Wow, that's expensive. Cigarettes in LA are like 5 bucks! haha

Very well written!

I love this, how it's both blunt and metaphoric at the same time (or at least, that's the way I'm interpreting it). Well written, overall - good job.

I love the bluntness of this piece. It's a more straightforward and real side of poetry indeed
