Last Request

Last Request

A Poem by Earl Musick J

As I sit here holding the heat to my knowledge
I feel the pressure to push that trigger,
but I was stopped by the one
who saved a life.

I was getting ready to feel misery,
So I would feel no pain ,
But something sounded whispery
And I saw him there in shame.

I was being watched over,
Until I made the move,
Now he stands next to me
Trying to help me recover.

He takes the gun from my head
Telling me I don’t need to be dead,
Trying to let me move in life
And defeat the fight.

He’s trying to help me
By allowing me to have any request,
Letting me chose on how to fix this tragic mess
By allowing anyway to put this at rest.

I sit here facing towards him
As my heart beats in my chest,
My nerves start racing
And I ask him for my last request.

I’m sitting here in pain knowing it can go
But it’ll come back later on down the road
so I give you my last request,
just put myself and the pain to rest...
