Theres A Reason

Theres A Reason

A Poem by Earl Musick J

You can look around the world and ask yourself
Many questions; why is the sky blue, where
Did trees really come from, how was life created,
Why is the grass green or how did this all start;

But the one question you should be asking, is to the person
Whom you would see in a mirror; who are you,
Where is your life right now, why are you here?

You would ask those questions to that reflection, why?
Cause it would give you a chance to look into the eyes of
The one who controls you; yourself, no one else.

You would ask, who are you? so the appearance
Would become clear as your eyes realize you can be
A completely different person; not a hollow figure
With blackness within your eyes, a body of bones
With poor skin, scars, wounds, a broken smile
And a dead soul;

The question, where is your life right now? would be answered
By showing you the environment that’s behind that one looking back,
it would show that torn up wallpaper that’s half one color half another,
it would show the holes in the wall, the carpet ripped up,
the trash dirty stains even the poor clothes being worn;

the question, why are you here? would show you
there is a reason why you’re standing in front of that mirror
questioning yourself; there is a reason why your soul is dead,
as it gives you a chance to become reborn; there is a reason
why your eyes are black, because it’s developing a new view;
there is a reason why your body is nothing but bones, it will
give you the opportunity to gain strength; there is a reason
you have wounds, to remind you that it’s been a rough path;
there is a reason you have a broken smile, to show you that
with your hollow life you were not happy at all;

there is a reason why you have so many questions wondering
through your head about your life, so you can end up seeing that a reflection
will tell you what to do; that it’s time to change the scene.

We must all question our purpose in life to change and become a better version of ourselves.
Kudos on your philosophical prose poem. Great thoughts, great depth.

Wow. I really like this. It's not just a simple little thing, it has a lot of depth and importance. I like how it's written just flowing, not very particular about sentences and such. Nice.
