Milestone around his heart

Milestone around his heart

A Poem by Earl Meek

As he closes his eyes,
he can feel her fevered gaze as it falls upon him,
for no one looks at him the way his lover does.
As he see her smile,
hope flutters, glides to sooth him,
finger tips to trace his heart,
a blanket soft with love.
Fall at her feet,
he does and pure,
to swear an oath beyond forever.
These eighteen months till eighteen years to their eternity of calm.
She sits and smiles,
they'll simply be,
the love that has renewed them.
Eternal nights to fuel with life,
the join that since has freed them.
