Deaf and blown

Deaf and blown

A Poem by Earl Meek

Did you notice yet?
These eyes that turned from blue to grey,
these shoulders hunched through lone, lost days?
Did you figure it out?
That feelings rule my work and play,
and did you care at all,
of what became of me?
Will you miss me when I crawl,
on rawest stumps toward the grave.
In ashes I shall sweep this land,
no substance nor strength to seek.
Didn't i do enough,
to show you life was filled with love?
That I am here a heart that beats,
is testament to how my weak,
and broken limbs do tear and weep.
For any day can see the final sleep.
It's breath is foul, an acrid death.
No change, no me, no sound is left........
