A dance of barren wind

A dance of barren wind

A Poem by Earl Meek

If I pause and just listen,
will I hear the last beat?
If I surrender what's lost
will I be forgiving to me?
If the walk that I lived returns to no freedom,
will the darkness of Hades accept the defeat?
Should I curl and just know
that there's pain for no reason,
or should I live in the cold
of this coming season?
Weighing the chances, the spark that has faded,
some semblance of new
given tarnished implosion.
Will I cry for what could have
been such a light?
Will I stand in the sun at the end of this life?
Will I steer my own ship
through a bloodied messed harbour,
or do I sink in the shallows
that changed as we floundered?
Explain to the fool that resides
without fear,
that beneath it all now,
is a truth that's so clear.
