Whispered in shades of regretA Poem by Earl Meek
But what if, when, in fifty years, those tears to weep are all too real?
When autumn leaves, like stars that shot, already gone. When the final breath of winter steals across his soul and claims him. When regret is now the only thought to feel. When sadness and loss define the years. When the hearth is empty as the heart that once did share the heat. What if, when, in the face that turned away, you see that all that love was freely given, now has faded, lost, been defeated once again. What hand to hold now that life has thrown the dice that met the drain. What if, my love, the sparkle eyes have died? When this sun has set, please say, that we watched it set together........ © 2015 Earl MeekFeatured Review
