Within The Realm

Within The Realm

A Poem by Earl Schumacker
"

A walk through a solid dreamscape escape

"

Within The Realm

On ruby red sunsets demise

Etched on gravestones sorrow

Below the beds of cobblestones

Less compromised then when alive

Lie the fallen upon the morrow

From the depths of empty wells

Fire dragons rise to turn the tides of time

Like dreams that twist and turn to life

Caught in a sleep as well they might

As Sunrise takes the light to flight

On the occasion of winter moon’s escape

Eclipsed by blistering cold to roam

Horizons line, just out of reach

Follows animals to sleep into tomorrow

Birds take illusions to their peak

As yet unseen, somewhere under the wing

Blurred, in V formation, kept as a secret

Keeping to their word they never speak

Weathered skies turn into rain then down the drain

To rust awaiting, gaining traction, feeding on the hollow

There, to turn candle lights to flickered smoke

In showers followed by the evening mist devoured

Cold stones stand void, empty of empathy

Over the tons of earth laid low

Followed by the scarecrow gaze ahead

There a sentry, filled with straw upon a pole

Fear of fire is all it knows

There within the realm of reason

There without a sound, cobblestones retreat

Looking for some troubles on the street
