White ManA Poem by Earl SchumackerBeing whiteWhite Man I am a white man white When I speak white words come out I wear white suits to confuse you And as camouflage in a crowd to lose you
I come in three colors All of them are white They are as follows: White, whiter and sunlight
Mirrors reflect my state of mind But not my color, which is mine
If I knew math I could make me twice I could be double white And therefore twice as nice
I was not born to mimic copy paper Though I am as thin and just as white I get lost in machinery and in snow storms Not knowing which end is up But I do know one thing. I am white And much whiter than I was before
