Gaslighting

On the way out the door by morning

Keys still in the lock for strangers

Stop at the bank for a cash transaction

Empty is the account which has no funds

Empty is the vehicle which runs on air

High octane might get you there

Around the corner is enlightenment

Friends wait for you with questions

Mighty is the business with money

Gathering dust just out of reach

Cars with gasoline can drive you crazy

It is only fare to pay the price to strangers

Who have your back and keys for a start

If you start walking right now

You will find arriving is a state of mind

You might get there by midnight

By gaslight, by morning if you can fly

Your poem is filled with the frustration of life, for seeing but not being able to get there, for happiness that is just over the horizon. We live in unsettled times Earl. Your poem leaves its uneasiness with me. I hope you are coping OK with your recent bereavement. Take care. Sending all good wishes across the waves.

Chris
