When Oceans FallA Poem by Earl SchumackerThere is a presumptive notion that oceans can fly or rise. When Oceans Fall
When oceans fall, skies marry blue Lighter comes the night cascading Sleeping with the waterfalls that land Heavy on the backs of continents
A crash is heard on midnight’s shallows Seas sleep on rocks that hold their ground While flowing into holes, oceans lift their heads Go down, go with them underground as soundless
There is no need to breath when there are waves Cradled in the sky with clouds born waiting Oceans rise and fall within themselves And when they crash the world starts laughing
